OnePlus 16: price, specs and India launch date for the 9,000mAh, 200MP flagship

The OnePlus 16 is official, but so far only in China. OnePlus launched it on October 12 with a 9,000mAh battery, a 200MP main camera, a 185Hz display and Qualcomm's Snapdragon 8 Elite Extreme Gen 6, starting at 5,999 yuan (about $896). Last year the OnePlus 15 had a 7,300mAh battery and a 50MP main camera. The question Indian buyers keep searching is when it comes here, and the honest answer is that OnePlus hasn't said yet. Below: what's confirmed, what's only rumoured, and how it compares with the OnePlus 15.

What is the OnePlus 16?

It is the company's 2026 flagship phone. Android Authority and GSMArena list the key specs from the China launch:

• Chip: Snapdragon 8 Elite Extreme Gen 6, with what OnePlus calls a "Glacier" vapor-chamber cooler that it says cools 40% better. OnePlus also added its own network, display and touch chips.
• Battery: 9,000mAh, up from 7,300mAh. Charging is 100W wired and 50W wireless. OnePlus says the wired charger reaches 80% in 37 minutes.
• Display: 6.78-inch LTPO OLED, 1272 × 2772 pixels, up to 185Hz. The system and apps can run at 165Hz.
• Cameras: 200MP main sensor (1/1.4-inch, f/1.6), 50MP ultrawide, 50MP 3x telephoto with a larger 1/1.95-inch sensor, and a 50MP selfie camera.
• Build: IP68, IP69 and IP69K water and dust ratings, an ultrasonic in-display fingerprint reader, stereo speakers, 8.5mm thick and about 217–220 g.
• Software: ColorOS 17 in China. Global phones run OxygenOS.
• Colours: Tomorrow's Starlight (silver, with LED lights that draw a big "16" on the back), Dark Forest and Mars Masterpiece.

OnePlus 16 price: how much does it cost?

In China it starts at a recommended 5,999 yuan (about $896) for 12GB of RAM and 256GB of storage, with a launch-offer price of 5,699 yuan (about $852), according to Android Authority. The other versions are 12GB/512GB, 16GB/512GB and 16GB/1TB.

There is no official India price. Prices on Indian sites are estimates. For reference, the OnePlus 15 launched in India on November 13, 2025 at ₹72,999 for 12GB/256GB and ₹79,999 for 16GB/512GB (Business Standard).

Is the OnePlus 16 launching in India?

Not confirmed. Here is what is known:

1. Testing has been spotted. On October 19, Business Today reported a post by tipster Abhishek Yadav saying OnePlus is testing software for global and Indian versions under three model numbers (CPH2901, CPH2903 and CPH2905). Business Today notes this does not confirm a launch date or guarantee an India launch.
2. No date yet. Some Indian sites guess at mid-November, the same window as the OnePlus 15 last year, but OnePlus itself has announced nothing.
3. A cheaper phone may lead. Some tipsters claim the OnePlus 16R could be the main flagship OnePlus sells in India. That is unconfirmed.
4. Europe and North America are out. OnePlus said earlier this year that it is leaving those markets, so the OnePlus 15 was its last flagship there (Android Authority). That leaves India as one of its few big markets outside China, which is why the India question matters so much.

How it works: what the big numbers mean for you

• 9,000mAh is about 23% more capacity than the OnePlus 15. More capacity means longer between charges, but real battery life also depends on the chip and the screen, so wait for independent tests.
• 185Hz means the screen can redraw up to 185 times a second. Many phones stop at 120Hz. You notice it mostly in fast games, which have to support the higher rate. Everyday apps run at up to 165Hz.
• 200MP sensors capture more detail, but phones usually merge groups of pixels into one larger pixel to cut noise. The full 200MP mode is mainly useful in good light or when you want to crop.

The battery, display and main camera are the big jumps. Wired charging drops from 120W to 100W, while wireless stays at 50W. The OnePlus 15's ₹72,999 price is the best guide to where an Indian version would land, if it comes.

Why it matters

India is one of OnePlus's most important markets, and the new phone now competes with other big-battery Chinese flagships such as the Oppo Find X10 Pro Max, which comes from the same parent group. Fitting 9,000mAh into a phone 8.5mm thick also raises the bar for battery life across the whole flagship market.

What's next and caveats

• Watch OnePlus India's official channels for a launch date. Until then, treat every India date and price as a rumour.
• All performance, charging and battery claims are OnePlus's own. Independent reviews of the China model are only starting.
• If the India version arrives, its specs and software could differ from the China model.
