## In short

On 3 November 2026 Apple opened Siri AI to all developers. A Developer Preview in the iOS, iPadOS, macOS and visionOS 27.3 betas lets any app expose its content and actions to Siri AI through App Intents, and chain them with new "skills". It reaches customers in a few months; App Store submissions open in spring.

## Key takeaways

- Apple's Siri AI Developer Preview, in the 27.3 betas since 3 November, lets any app bring its content and custom actions into Siri AI using App Intents.
- New "skills" let developers teach Siri AI to combine several of an app's actions into one request, and Siri AI can now surface any entity in the Spotlight semantic index.
- It is testing only for now: Apple says it reaches customers in a few months, with App Store submissions opening in spring.
- Siri AI is not available in the EU on iOS, iPadOS and watchOS, and server-side features have daily usage limits that Apple says will later be expandable for a fee.

Until this week, Siri AI, the rebuilt assistant Apple showed at WWDC in June, mostly worked with Apple's own apps. On 3 November Apple [opened it to every developer](https://developer.apple.com/news/?id=gdk2umrf): a Developer Preview in the iOS 27.3, iPadOS 27.3, macOS 27.3 and visionOS 27.3 betas lets any app bring its content and custom actions into Siri AI. If you were searching "siri ai developer" after the beta landed, this is what changed and what it means for your app.

## What did Apple announce for Siri AI developers?

Apple says the preview "enables any developer to integrate their app with Siri AI". The plumbing is App Intents, the framework apps already use to expose actions to Siri, Shortcuts and Spotlight. What is new is how much Siri AI can do with those intents:

- **Natural requests.** People ask in their own words, and Siri AI uses personal context and onscreen awareness to pick the right app action. Apple's examples: checking a delivery, booking a reservation, placing an order.
- **Skills.** For complex requests, developers can now teach Siri AI how to combine several of an app's actions into a single experience.
- **Any entity.** Siri AI can surface anything an app puts in the Spotlight semantic index, not just items that fit one of Apple's existing schemas.

Apple is also rolling out new actions across its own apps, including Calendar, Files, Finder, Mail, Maps, Messages, Notes, Photos, Reminders, Safari and Shortcuts, as reference examples. According to [iClarified](https://www.iclarified.com/103272/apple-opens-siri-ai-app-integrations-to-all-developers), Xcode gains a Siri Integration Advisor that gives implementation feedback, plus a Siri Evaluations framework to test requests and track how Siri's answers change.

## How does it work?

Think of App Intents as a menu your app hands to Siri. Each intent is one thing the app can do ("send a message", "show order status"), and each entity is a thing it knows about (a contact, an order, a playlist). Siri AI reads that menu, listens to the request, looks at what is on screen, and decides which item to run.

In practice, developers model their data as App Entities, conform to App Schemas where one fits (Apple has schema "domains" for things like messages, photos, files, calls, calendars and maps), and index content so Siri can find it. iClarified reports that no new entitlement or separate program is needed, and existing App Intents code can be adapted.

## When can apps ship Siri AI features?

Not yet. This is testing only. Apple says the preview gives "early access before first shipping to customers in a few months", with App Store submissions opening in the spring. Until then, integrations run in development-signed builds and internal TestFlight, iClarified notes. Apple says it will share the terms and usage policies for Siri AI experiences later, and it is running Apple Intelligence Group Labs for developers on 4 and 5 November.

## Why it matters

Siri AI could become a front door to apps, as [RuntimeWire](https://runtimewire.com/article/apple-opens-siri-ai-all-developers-ios-27-3-beta) puts it. If people ask Siri to "check my order" instead of opening an app, the apps that exposed their actions early are the ones Siri can reach. Apple frames it the same way: more customers can "discover and use apps just by asking".

That is also a shift in how apps get used. The work moves from screens to well-described actions and data. Teams that already invested in App Intents for Shortcuts and Spotlight start ahead; apps that never did now have a reason to.

## Caveats

- **Regions and languages.** Siri AI is not available in the EU on iOS, iPadOS and watchOS while Apple talks with regulators. It supports English, French, Japanese, Korean, Portuguese and Spanish, with Traditional Chinese, Norwegian, Turkish and Vietnamese coming soon. It is not available to users under 13.
- **Usage limits.** Apple says server-side Apple Intelligence features, Siri AI included, have daily limits, and that expanded access "will be available for a fee in the future".
- **Policies still to come.** Apple has not yet published the terms that will govern what apps can do through Siri AI.

In China, Apple Intelligence is arriving with Alibaba's Qwen models but without Siri AI itself; we covered that in [Apple Intelligence China: arrives in December with Alibaba's Qwen inside Siri](/posts/apple-intelligence-china-qwen-ios-27-3/). ## Questions readers ask

### What is the Siri AI developer preview?

It is an early version of the tools that let third-party apps work with Siri AI, Apple's rebuilt assistant. It shipped on 3 November 2026 in the iOS, iPadOS, macOS and visionOS 27.3 betas, and any developer can use it.

### How do developers integrate their app with Siri AI?

Through App Intents. Apps describe their content as entities and their features as intents, and Siri AI can then find that content and run those actions from a spoken or typed request. New skills chain several actions together.

### When can apps with Siri AI features ship on the App Store?

Apple says App Store submissions open in the spring, and the features reach customers in a few months. Until then, integrations run only in development-signed and internal TestFlight builds.

### Is Siri AI available in the EU?

Not on iOS, iPadOS and watchOS for now. Apple says it is working with the EU to find a path forward.

### Which languages does Siri AI support?

English, French, Japanese, Korean, Portuguese and Spanish, with Traditional Chinese, Norwegian, Turkish and Vietnamese coming soon, according to Apple.
